Creative Industries Week 6:Analyse a gaming magazine

Those who did not attend the Bradford Games Festival were told to analyse a gaming magazine and in doing so i hose the magazine called 'Games Master', so as i began to analyze the magazine (along with the magazine cam a poster of The Simpsons Game and a small cheats book)besides that on the cover, which caught my interest of the magazine was the large figure of homer simpson as the main feature of the magazine was The Simpsons Game, along with that were the review of the game Metroid Prime:Corruption, WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2008, Halo 3 and more. As i opened the pagehere was a full paged advert of the Halo 3 game and a welcome message from the editor, carrying on was the contents page listingall the features, reviews and extras page numbers.

The magazine had an interesting read on latest gaming hardware such as a Nokia N-Gage which allows players to play games in the bst way on their mobile, the rumour of a playstation phone and competitions for the latest gaming hardware. Dwelling deeper into the magazine you realise that the reviews aren't just for game and gaming hardware but all hardware such as the PSP, PS3, Nintendo Wii, Ds and others and as you read on the amount of images put together let you see the true game quality and with most of the main features of the magazine having a wide paged spread you see more screenshots of the game showing aspects you didn't realise were there such as crowds in teh game would not be 3d to have more focus on the main characters and the magazine lets readers see as well as read teh reviews of the game on other consoles.

Reading on the magazine has verdict of the game likes and dislikes as well as the overall rating, with most pages about game reviews there are some adverts which have a connection with the games such as Natwest allowing gamers to have a account to purchase things on the playstation network and gaming software. There was a two paged letters to the editor pages whcih has a video of the month screenshot and as well as the new games on show they have pages on 'We Love Old Games' having readers tell the magazine their favourite classics and getting to the main feature you see not only a wide paged spread but a five paged review of the game explaining the features, storyline, screenshots and more about the game.

Althoguh the magazine has reviews of the big named games it also has a round-up of reviews of games which wouldn' fit into the magazine but summarised and also having enough pages for tips of the month, cheats, spoilers, magazine offers and a mobile downloads section. Overall the magazine allows readers a full insight of game that have been, already and will be released which has areas on improvements, screenshots and the features of the games. For me this magazine has more then enough information on coming games and to me the images that come with the reviews are more than enough of what the game looks like and depening on the features of the magazine readers would be interested in the magazine, to the ages of 12 and over due to its in-depth analysis of teh games which perhaps wouldn't understandable to children.
