Digital Films Week1:A Chase Scene

The Simpsons Tree House of Horror VIII Fly vs Fly
This link is to the episode as there were no scenes i could find of the episode and chose it because there is a lot of different types of chase scenes and how the fly concept is used.
http://www.wtso.net/movie/5-The_Simpsons_904_Treehouse_of_Horror_VIII.html
The Simpsons Homer vs Fly
I had chosen the video above because it has that basic fly chase scene and added humor, with the chase being instead of using his hands he used something unexpected but funny, his head, which has potential to develop from.
Mr. Bean Animated Series Fly Trap
Now i had chosen this scene from the animated series of Mr Bean as he was too warm in his room and had opened a window only for a fly to be flying around annoying him and after you have seen it you realize all the stupid ways he had handled getting rid of the fly.
Mr. Bean Picnic
This by far stood out due to its humor it keeps the viewers watching and guessing what ridiculous way he will handle the situation and the choice was because he uses his props around him really well and it involves no speech having full control of the scene using only his action.
Family Guy Fly Scene
This was chosen because of how basic and outrageous of a method to get rid of a fly is and got the group thinking on the story-line ideas.

Digital Films Week1:Choice of Scene

Studio Exercise Video – production start - 19th April – Deadline - 4th May 10pm

Working in Teams of 3 , you will produce a Video Sequence – no longer than

2 minutes on ONE of the following themes:

A LOVE SCENE | A FIGHT SCENE | A CHASE SCENE

Don’t take the terms literally – it could be a scene about someone’s obsessive love for coffee, or an internal mental

fight as someone make’s a decision. Think about how shot framing , sound and editing of sequence can help

communicate ideas to the audience.

The purpose of this exercise is to explore video production fundamentals, both in filming and editing to inform the

1-minute film project. – Don’t get too worried about perfecting a script, performance and art direction. Try to

produce something that can be filmed in a day.

Be prepared to bring a storyboard to the Video Induction Workshop in the AV Room on the 19th April.

We, (Mark and myself) as a group have chosen the chase scene as we believed that the love scene wouldn't be best suited for us as we are more of the fight or chase scenes, the more action type and so we narrowed or choices from the two scenes left. Coming up with a fight scene, which has a person fighting over what choices of ideas he has to use for his project or a chase scene involving the fly and we had come up with a vast amount of story-lines for the fly:

  • Fly buzzing around as the person watches T.V, resulting in the person chasing the fly around the room and destroying everything in there path.
  • Chasing the fly through the room, through into the streets and just chasing the fly around landing in different places.
  • Having the camera as the fly point of view.
  • Fly, flies into the computer as the person uses the mouse around the computer screen chasing the fly.
  • Fly goes into the hard-rive and short circuits the computer and the person opens the hard-rive for the fly to be melted to the circuits.
  • Or that the fly flies off as the hard-rive is opened and causes a chase scene.
  • The fly being chased and trying to be flattened/killed using various objects.
  • As the person is chasing the fly around various places the end scene finishes with a far out shot of person chasing the fly, trying to swat it in to the sunset.
  • Chases fly from he living room all the way to the park which follows the fly all the way, as the fly goes into a beehive and person doesn't notice and attacks the beehive and bees chase the person away.
  • The fly gets bigger and bigger as the scenes go on.
  • Using props to attack the fly as in Mr Bean using the juice bottle to trap the fly and turning it upside down to eventually open it for the fly to just fly off.
  • Having the person and fly swap places and the person is instead flying around the human sized fly.
  • Having the person doing an everyday thing when a fly comes and begins to annoy the person and he pushes it away and as the fly continuously comes back the person uses farfetched ways in trying to destroy the fly.

Creative Industries Week 11:What is the future of 3-D gaming?

The future of 3-D gaming would rise in popularity depending on the gamers and with the success of 3-D films such as Avatar and Alice In Wonderland, which are trying to convert the succes through to the home in 3-D, it's only time that can tell when 3-D T.V's will be released, involving other medias such as gaming.

As games are being developed and improved as years go by and storylines begin to be repetitive the gaming industry would need to have a new attraction and many feel that as 3-D is becoming bigger in other medias, why not integrate it into the gaming world? Some experts are going as far as labelling 3-D gaming the saviour games as it has the promise of dazzling lighting effects, detailed backgrounds and more of a pure 3-D gaming speed.

With 3-D gaming along with 3-D T.V's and perhaps even 3-D sound the next step in technology will be the biggest as it will the best piece of technology to be more connected with what your are watching or playing. Different games may differ in the extension of game play using 3-D but games such as Gran Turismo, Motorsormand Wipeout would have a better benefit from depth perception.

However with this new batch of technology soon to be released and how much they cost in production will perhaps be a close enough price as £500-£700 and then the actual 3-D game play experience good or bad would only be expressed once you have triedthe 3-D gaming but from that the only expression from the 3-D gaming thing is that having all the 3-D technology around and maybe too much for purchase straight away the gaming public would have to wait to try the game play.

During game play with your 3-D glasses on would suggest that most gamers would be tired of using glasses to view the effect and resulting with themnot want to use the technology as having to wear glasses to view somethings detail would mean more purchases (with keeping up with he 3-D technology). Along with HDTVs, many suggest that 3DTVS would just bea repeat and cause nothing mor than simple gaming rather than enhance it.

Overall having 3-D gaming would expand the industry to involve other medias but having the choice of playing normally without having to pay for 3-D technology and wearing 3-D glasses would sound better but the choice is of the gamers, however involving 3-D gaming would result in more of an audience for games you wouldn't normally purchase.

Games Week 8:Armoured suit-Textures

Side View of the Complete Avatar Armor Suit

Front View of the Complete Avatar Armor Suit

Back View of the Complete Avatar Armor Suit

This image shows the clothing under the suit has a texture:

Here is the texture used for the under clothing, i used this because it gives that untidy, creased and rough clothing feel.

This next image is of the metal armour which has that distinct and thorough style of texture:

This texture was chosen because it has the style of texture which i felt showed how tough and strong the armour is.

For this i hadn't chosen a texture but instead used the type from second life with it having a medium amount of shine.

In the middle of the image just above the leg armour and under the knee ring i used a texture which was distinctive and different from the surrounding armour:

This was the texture used as it was light in colour so stood out from the much darker colours around it and has the soft but bumpier texture.

As you can see the pack on the back has that metal ringed texture:

I felt this texture seemed mostly valid in any piece of metal and so chose this for the back piece as the texture is used really well with a larger area.

In between the back and front shoulder armour i had used a texture which can be seen much closer but second life only took me this close:

This is the texture used because it has a dark metal look and would feel solid simply because of its look.

Creative Industries Week 10:Redo-What is the value of creativity to Society?

After answering this question with my own opinion i realized i had to have references to back it up and so i have looked at other peoples opinions and found that the value of creativity could possess different meanings depending on how you look at it, as various opinions would say that there is only creativity within the societies that create stories, videos and art that would find creativity as a value.

In my first reference i realised that the value of creativity is a big value as it is useful or important in what we can come up with for ourselves, but in the sense that you are creative if you come up with your own ideas and that the value of creativity can be benefited from as people are hired to be creative. Creativity is of a value to everyone as it is used in all professions from rock-stars to the basic mechanic as rock-stars use creativity in their songs whilst mechanics have a special ear to hear if there is a problem with the engine of a car.

From the graphic media companies within their society after coming up with digital imaging which in the days it came out weren't of big as a value but these companies have tried to further the digital imaging media these days due to the increase in the digital media industries. From this creativity is of a big value trying to move their product further into areas or creating new products which would expand in their company by being creative and having products which surpass the previous, the value is that without creativity in this media there wouldn't be any new solutions and opportunities for them to come up with.

The value of creativity has perhaps not been exposed as much as the basic skills we need in life such as maths and english and some would say that creativity isn't of that much of a value because we spend so much of our time focusing on the 'main' three skills, maths, science and english when we were in our school days. With spending more time on other skills value of creativity is lacking in being acknowledged in our learning stage and having a big affect on how much creativity can be of value.

The value of creativity is the main value of what we have, this is because without creativity we wouldn't have the individual products, accessories and things that are just there and because of them we are separated and known and seen as separate from someone who has other things. Creativity gives us choices, ideas and solutions through life making it of big value.

Games Week 7:Snapshots

First beginning the armoured suit i had uploaded the base clothing to get a rough idea of the added armour and so began with the right shoulder armour.

Then after getting the right sizes i began to add the colour and focussing on the one side and having to shape it around the shoulder front to back.

After getting the shoulder armour right i created a similar one on the other side and to which then using the shoulder armour as a base for the pelvis armour which was tricky to get it even on both sides and right shape to the avatar.

Here is the back view of my avatar as not only is the pelvis armour a belt it goes around the avatar to give it that space look.

Continuing from he back view i began to create the pack that goes on the back and created a hemisphere and placed it on the back.

I began to look around my avatars clothing and found that the back part of the shoulder armour had not really connected well to the front and so i improvise and created a kind of air tubing in between.

In this snapshot you can see i am linking the bottom armour to the legs to get the right shape.

Here is the back view as the leg armour shapes around the leg very nicely.

Again, i realized as i was developing the leg armour that the shape kept getting out of place because of the length of the under trousers and so from that.

As you see from the back the armour is similar to the shape of the legs.

Eventually after the right shape i added the boots to the leg armour which ended in a good view.

The back view of the shoes looks in place as it has that similar affect and colour to all the other armour.

In this snapshot you can see the arm armour which which is what resembles the planned armour and found that i had to do the individual arm armour as it would not be in the place i had wanted it to be.

Back view of the arm armour shows how it isn't fully connected as it has two individual straps connected to it.

After completing everything i had began with the helmet which was difficult to create in second life as the shape and certain pieces did not go well together until i had created one section and duplicated it to which shaped and resized it to the other section.

Back view of the complete armoured suit avatar, in my opinion is more or less spot on to the planned because the armour follows the shape and size of the avatar and having it look like a space suit, with it's unique appearance and having distinct colours to which show the metal side and the basic clothing.

Creative Industries Week 10:What is the value of creativity to Society?

I believe that the value of creativity within a society is really what separates someone society to another as the creativity brings out different aspects such as what their belief is and how that certain individual would act in a situation, to me however that is what is the value of creativity is what it says its creative, the ideas of a society which will almost certainly differ from another individuals ideas.

Creativity is vital within societies as a society wouldn't be there if it wasn't creative and vary in its purpose to other societies because within each society there always is something which makes them stand out or have a difference to the other societies for example a social society within a school always differs between people as there is the popular kids who are different in comparison to the school geeks and even the Goth children.

Societies, which have been affected by the creativity, have all been affected in the fact that they have advanced further such as in video games without creativity there wouldn’t be the range of games from action to role-playing to even simulation games. With the creativity in the games industry you get a different way or aspect of a game.

Overall creativity is the main reason why we have advanced further than what we could have expected as without creativity we wouldn’t have the various choices in the shapes, size and colour of products and the creativity helps to further our understanding of the how things are and interact for example without creativity we wouldn’t have believed that the earth was a sphere and carried on believing it was flat and also with creative organizations being created societies are able to express their creativity through means of media or artistic creativity, art organizations.

Games Week 6:Space Suit Ideas

Here i have created many types of suits ones that are basic and another which has a mobile suit which the passenger would get in to and control.

But eventually i had come up with a combined EVA Suit.

This next sketch is of the basic suits after getting out of the EVA suits and i first came up with brown with the blue but as you can see in the next image i was given the opinion that red with blue would be better suited and it does, as it stands out more.

Games Week 5:Cargo Pod and Space Shuttle

The final design for the cargo pod had come to a great relief as i had though that it would look too detail and complicated to build in Second Life but to me it looks more than suitable.

Again i had thought i would overdo the design but resembling the space station i was able to create a realistic space shuttle.

Games Week 5:Space Station Ideas

This image shows the ideas i have come up, they show many variations of shapes but choosing the best was very difficult as they each brought their own unique look.

Here is the final design which all the group chose as the best as it was simple not overcomplicating the design and combines samples of each of the groups ideas.
