Studio Exercise Video – production start - 19th April – Deadline - 4th May 10pm
Working in Teams of 3 , you will produce a Video Sequence – no longer than
2 minutes on ONE of the following themes:
A LOVE SCENE | A FIGHT SCENE | A CHASE SCENE
Don’t take the terms literally – it could be a scene about someone’s obsessive love for coffee, or an internal mental
fight as someone make’s a decision. Think about how shot framing , sound and editing of sequence can help
communicate ideas to the audience.
The purpose of this exercise is to explore video production fundamentals, both in filming and editing to inform the
1-minute film project. – Don’t get too worried about perfecting a script, performance and art direction. Try to
produce something that can be filmed in a day.
Be prepared to bring a storyboard to the Video Induction Workshop in the AV Room on the 19th April.
We, (Mark and myself) as a group have chosen the chase scene as we believed that the love scene wouldn't be best suited for us as we are more of the fight or chase scenes, the more action type and so we narrowed or choices from the two scenes left. Coming up with a fight scene, which has a person fighting over what choices of ideas he has to use for his project or a chase scene involving the fly and we had come up with a vast amount of story-lines for the fly:
- Fly buzzing around as the person watches T.V, resulting in the person chasing the fly around the room and destroying everything in there path.
- Chasing the fly through the room, through into the streets and just chasing the fly around landing in different places.
- Having the camera as the fly point of view.
- Fly, flies into the computer as the person uses the mouse around the computer screen chasing the fly.
- Fly goes into the hard-rive and short circuits the computer and the person opens the hard-rive for the fly to be melted to the circuits.
- Or that the fly flies off as the hard-rive is opened and causes a chase scene.
- The fly being chased and trying to be flattened/killed using various objects.
- As the person is chasing the fly around various places the end scene finishes with a far out shot of person chasing the fly, trying to swat it in to the sunset.
- Chases fly from he living room all the way to the park which follows the fly all the way, as the fly goes into a beehive and person doesn't notice and attacks the beehive and bees chase the person away.
- The fly gets bigger and bigger as the scenes go on.
- Using props to attack the fly as in Mr Bean using the juice bottle to trap the fly and turning it upside down to eventually open it for the fly to just fly off.
- Having the person and fly swap places and the person is instead flying around the human sized fly.
- Having the person doing an everyday thing when a fly comes and begins to annoy the person and he pushes it away and as the fly continuously comes back the person uses farfetched ways in trying to destroy the fly.
